HBS 2+2 INTERVIEW INVITES ARE COMING OUT + THE LOOK LIKE BELOW.

Dear Future Master of the Universe:

Warm greetings from Harvard Business School!

After careful consideration of your 2+2 Program application materials, we are delighted to inform you that you have been selected for an interview with a member of our MBA Admissions Board. We look forward to the opportunity to get to know you better through our interview process.

We use an online scheduling system to manage our interview process. Since we know that many of our interviewees will need to make travel arrangements to our campus in Boston for their interview, we are sending this message in advance so that you are aware of our interview schedule. We hope this advance notice is helpful to you as you plan for your interview.

All interviews will take place on our campus in Boston. We will have interview slots available at 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm every day from August 18 to August 24. You will receive another email from MBA Admissions at noon on Tuesday, July 20 with a link to our online scheduling system. You will be able to select a specific interview slot at that time. Please note that all of our interview slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In the past, our interview slots have filled very quickly, so we encourage you to be prompt in selecting your slot.

You may find it helpful to review the activities available on our campus during your visit, as well as hotel and travel information. Please see our website for more details. Note that we will offer a lunchtime information session exclusively for 2+2 interviewees every day from August 18-24.

Again, we hope this advance notice is helpful to you. Thank you for your interest in Harvard Business School, and we look forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely yours,
MBA Admissions

OFFICIAL HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL CHART OF
COLLEGE YEAR OF GRADUATION FOR CLASS ENTERING THIS
SEPTEMBER

class12graph.png

YOUTH JIHAD –THE LIVING PROOF.

THESE STATS FROM HBS WEBSITE ARE BASICALLY THE SAME DISTRIBUTION AS THE PAST 4 YEARS OR SO.

http://www.hbs.edu/mba/admissions/blog.html#post-2010-07-07

SO IF YOU ARE APPLYING THIS YEAR, CLASS OF 2005 BECOMES THE DEAD ZONE, E.G. HUGE DROP OFF FROM THE SWEET SPOT–WHICH FOR THIS YEAR IS CLASSES OF 2006, 2007, 2008. NOTE THAT OF THE 113 PEEPS OUTSIDE THE SWEET SPOT (ON THE GEEZER SIDE), WE ARE TALKING SORTA 40 MILITARY, 10-15 MDS, 10-15 PHDS IN BIOSCIENCE ETC. SO THE ACTUAL NUMBER OF NORMAL PEOPLE IN THAT GROUP IS MAYBE 40, MOST OF WHOM ARE IN VERY NEXT CLASS, THIS YEAR, 2005.

ALSO NOTE WILD CARD: NEXT YEAR THE FIRST 2+2 INFANTS ARRIVE –TO WIT, 106 KIDS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN ACCEPTED AND ARE COLLEGE CLASS OF 2008, NOT SURE IF THAT WILL SWELL THE SWEET SPOT EVEN MORE, IF HBS WILL INCREASE ENROLLMENT (DONT THINK SO) OR WHAAAA–INCLUDING JUST TAKING 106 LESS KIDS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AGE BRACKETS, WHICH WLD STILL HAVE IMPACT OF MAKING CLASS EVEN YOUNGER.

HBS Class of 2012 by Undergraduate Degree Year

By the way, here is same chart for class entering in 2008, as you can see, the general outline is the same, 3 years later, only the years have changed :-)

Teach for America — HBS favorite org of all time

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Hysterical story on Teach for America–Harvard Business School’s (HBS’s) FAVORITE org of all time, and no wonder.
1. It creams the graduating classes of Ivies for top candidates.
2. They do two years or so of do-gooder work, which studies show, again and again, are less competent than that done by average and non-Ivy veteran teachers.
3. After bufffing up their resumes, and plucking one or two superstars out of the masses to help, they cont. to network, w. other TFA drop-outs, who are now themselves in top b and law schools, and at some pt., in the distant future, after they have made their personal fortunes at IB, Consulting, PE, VC etc. or even as NGO/Gov prima donnas (remember Tim Geithner and his tax scams at World Bank), they actually might give milions to underserved educational communities and programs. Win-Win for everyone, prob. even for the poor kids who get subjected to these rookies, after all, gal at end of story is sure trying hard, and has been well-trained.
FOLKS, THIS STORY, LIKE THE PROVERBIAL GRAIN OF SAND TO WILLIAM BLAKE, CONTAINS A WHOLE UNIVERSE.

“I’m always shocked by the hullaboo, given Teach for America’s size” — about 0.2 percent of all teachers — “and its mixed impact,” said Julian Vasquez Heilig, a University of Texas professor. Dr. Heilig and Su Jin Jez of California State University, Sacramento, recently published a critical assessment after reviewing two dozen studies. One study cited indicated that “by the fourth year, 85 percent of T.F.A. teachers had left” New York City schools.

NEW HBS DEAN

hbs tweet below–the video referenced has some great shots of HBS etc., and new Dean seems like sincere, nice guy, but I bailed at 4:06 out of 6min or so–so dont expect any insider admision tips, or even macro nudges as in Wharton dean op-ed in Chinese newspaper cited above, altho Wharton message is sorta BIG B SCHOOL PARTY LINE for all of them (HSW) these days: since schools cannot really do much about ethics of 90 pct of their grads, they can at least support, rather LOUDLY, the do-gooder focus of the other 10 pct. And that is what has happened.

HBSNews Today @NitinNohria begins his tenure as the 10th Dean of HBS. Here’s a video message: http://www.hbs.edu/dean
